In July, the prairie blooms in a fantastic array of color. Deep purple lupines, along with golden yellow sunflowers and light lavender bergamot, share space with the pristine white of wild quinine and the stunning orange of butterfly weed, all interspersed with a flourishing flush of tall grasses. Visit the prairie restorations at Price Park Conservancy to admire these native plants and learn their names and their habits. This guided tour is sure to further your appreciation of an iconic—and uniquely Midwestern—landscape.
The program is free, but space is limited so advance registration is required; donations to KMLT are always appreciated. Email rachel@kmlandtrust.org to reserve your place in the tour.
There will be moderate hiking. Bring drinking water and a sun hat. All ages are welcome, but the content is better suited to adults and older children. Please, no pets.
