DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 9\, 8:00-10:00 a.m.\, with check-in\, coffee and muffins at 8:00 a.m.. \nPlease join us for a morning bird hike at Petersen Island Woods Preserve. We are honored to welcome back Kevin Dickey\, chapter president for the Lakeland Audubon Society. Kevin has been leading this annual hike for several years and we always learn so much from his expertise. \nWear sturdy walking shoes\, dress for the weather. We’ll have extra binoculars on hand\, and feel free to bring your own. We’ll also use the Merlin Birding App to capture (electronically) what we observe!  We’ll hike in search of local birds\, and go over observation tips for identifying what we’re hearing and seeing. There will be nature based birding activities for children and children at heart.. \nThis event is appropriate for all ages. Free. Please register in advance. Register here

DESCRIPTION:Join KMLT and the Wisconsin DNR for a morning of stewardship at Beulah Bog State Natural Area! \nWe’ll spend the morning removing invasive garlic mustard to help protect this unique natural community starting at 8:30am. Then at 11:30am\, anyone interested is invited to join an interpretive hike through the bog to learn more about its ecology and importance. \nPlease register here prior to the workday. Whether you can stay for the whole morning or just part of it\, we’d love to have you there! \nPlease dress for the weather and bring water\, work gloves\, and sturdy boots if you have them.
